Burns Night Tartan

It's the 25th January - and that means it's time to celebrate the birth of Scotland's finest poet. I'm not Scottish, nor do I have any Scottish blood in me, but I'm not one to miss out on a literary celebration - and I do love a bit of tartan.

If haggis, neeps and tatties aren't your thing then why not celebrate with a style statement? The mere prospect of a Vivienne Westwood tartan dress is enough to get me reeling around the room.

Snow Day!

The weathermen were right! The UK has been covered by a thick white blanket of snow and it's times like this you just can't help wanting to hit the slopes - however scary the prospect of learning to ski or snowboard might seem. Well, we can always content ourselves by shopping for the stylish skiiwear first. What better way to fend off the cold than in Fendi? Just add Sweaty Betty accessories, Puma snowboots and a nice warm bobble hat for a look inspired by the beautiful Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Swish swoosh...

Save 20% at Corlette

If you love accessories then you'll love browsing through Corlette's new and improved website.

There was a time when no self-respecting woman would ever dream of leaving the house without her corset and gloves, and Corlette aim to recapture this bygone age of elegance and glamour with their accessory collections. Don't make the mistake of thinking this all sounds a bit too Downton Abbey dowager. Corlette have adopted a completely modern take on corsets to produce a wide range of waist-cinching belts and leather gloves to add va va voom to any outfit.

Whether you want fringing, frogging, lace, leopard or tribal embellishment; whether you want deliciously dark oxblood or you're looking ahead to the sorbet shades of spring, there are lots of styles to tempt you. I particularly love Corlette's leather peplum belt (pictured below).

If the name Corlette is new to you, now's the time to discover the brand. They have just relaunched their website - and to celebrate you can claim 20% off your order when shopping before Thursday 17th January 2013. Not that you need an excuse to treat yourself.

Statement Necklaces

Ok, so I missed a trick not buying Zara's eagle necklace when I had the chance (they're now being sold on ebay for three times the price), but there are plenty more fish in the sea when it comes to statement styles this season!

Every fashionista's best friend, a statement necklace is by far the easiest way to style-up a simple outfit. Very Gossip Girl, I've lost count of the times I've used a chunky, ethnic style necklace to transform a boring jeans and t-shirt combo.

If you're thinking of buying an investment piece, Mawi is a must - but there are great options on the high street too. Look out for neon paste set styles ready for summer - and the bigger the better, I say - but one is enough. I pity the fool who'd layer this lot up for a Mr T look - just think how heavy they'd be!

Personally, I've gone for this big ol' hunk of H&M (£17.99). I couldn't possibly let a £5 off voucher they had given me go to waste, now could I?!

January Sales: Zara

When it comes to shopping on the high street Zara is more often than not my first stop - especially when there's a sale on. Before Christmas I'd had my eye on a few items, namely a leopard print jumper, a pair of green sunglasses and an eagle necklace. Like a good girl I held off - and my patience has been rewarded (well, two out of three ain't bad).

The leopard print jumper had been reduced from £35 - £12.99, so I thought it would be rude not to buy the matching cardigan too.

Anyone who knows me, or reads this blog, will know I'm a complete handbag addict, so at risk of severe leopard print overdose I bagged this one, reduced from £49.99 - £29.99.

Now, I know it's not the time of year to be buying sunglasses, but I've just booked a holiday to Abu Dhabi, so the pair I'd had my eye on will be perfect - and they're reduced from £17.99 - £5.99.

Sadly there was no sign of the necklace. Although the website lists it as reduced from £22.99 - £7.99 it's out of stock. On that front the hunt continues, but statement necklaces are going to be big news for 2013 so watch this space.

January Sales: Kurt Geiger

For any self-respecting shopaholics who love a bargain, January is always the ultimate time to buy. For the past couple of years we may begun to see sales starting before Christmas, but many retailers still hang on waiting for the hoards of New Year's shoppers to come in and clear the shelves.

Working for a website like SalesGossip means I always get to hear about all the latest tempting sales and offers, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to share my January sales savings with you. First up it's Kurt Geiger.

Now, designer shopping outlets may offer amazing discounts all year round, but that doesn't mean you should neglect them for January sales. Oh no - this is the time to cash in on extra savings. Kurt Geiger have recently opened a store at the East Midlands Designer Outlet, so I couldn't wait to take a look. On the day I visited there was a special promotion with all Kurt Geiger shoes and boots reduced to £39 or less, but that's not all! It was the accessories that caught my eye. I bought a leopard print clutch bag for £8 (was £30), a Jerry bracelet for £3 (was £40), and best of all I found a multi-chain Jinette bracelet for just £1 (was £40).

Not bad, ey!
