Time to Think Pink

When I popped into Miss Selfridge after meeting a friend for lunch this afternoon I only meant to have a quick browse - until this pretty pink watch caught my eye.

With a sale label reading reduced from £16.50 - £5 I immediately thought 'I'll have that' - little did I know that it had been marked down yet again.When I got it to the till my new watch set me back the grand total of - wait for it...

 £2.50! 

Don't you just love it when that happens? I'm ticked pink with this purchase - although, I've now got no excuse to turn up fashionably late ever again.

Shake Your Pom Poms

Shake your pom poms if you're off to a festival this summer. If you want to channel that sought after global traveller vibe when you don't plan on venturing any further than deepest, darkest Glastonbury then pom poms  are definitely the way forward. An instant talking point, pom poms cry out 'oh look at this necklace I picked up in Peru' - never mind it's actually from Primark!

The crafters' favourite will instantly add an ethnic twist to this year's festival fashion - so why not buy some wool, make a batch and tie some to your wellies? That said, if you don't fancy a spot of DIY fashion, you can find pom poms everywhere at the moment - just look at the Issa for LK Bennett collection where these brightly coloured fuzzy balls are the embellishment of choice.

At 5'3 and a half I'd never really considered maxi dresses as an option - that is until my best friend Lucy changed my mind with her lovely drop-waisted floral number. On holiday in Abu Dhabi maxi dresses were a popular choice amongst the girls whether on the beach or at a fancy restaurant - satisfying the modest dress codes whilst still remaining cool (in both senses of the word). Tugging at the hem of a dress I'd managed to shrink in the wash, worrying that it was far too short, maxi dresses suddenly seemed to be the answer to effortless elegance. I'll just have to find one that doesn't drag along the floor or trip me up!

On my search to find the perfect maxi for me, I've managed to whittle it down to a shortlist of 5:

Gossip Girl @ Miss Selfridge

The second collection of Gossip Girl inspired dresses (and a jumpsuit) has arrived at Miss Selfridge. Sadly, there are only four pieces to choose from - although this is probably somewhat of a blessing for the old bank balance! This time around they haven't assigned the styles as being uniquely Blair, Serena, Jenny or Vanessa, but have gone for more of a general GG vibe. I think they have missed a trick there, as everyone has there fav character look. It's also a shame that the collection is a bit heavy on the black, but there is some great embellishment - perfect for the party season. Prices range from £50-£60.
